HOME NESTING PHILOSOPHY
Home is my happy place and is a major factor that contributes to my inner sense of contentment. It is the place that I am home to raise my little twiggies and where our memories are built and collected. It is an extension of my personality built on all things that are of sentimental value and filled with a meaningful touch in how I place the pieces of my home together. Most pieces serve a practical purpose to avoid clutter, as I feel a tidy home lends to an air of wellness and functional daily living.
THE TWIGGY MOTHER NESTING STYLE
I find that I am attracted to the bright & airy simplicity of Scandinavian design that invites the freshness of the outdoors inside. I love cozying up on clean lines of woven linen and cotton fabrics, airy chiffon curtains, and romantic, creamy tones. My darker, sensual side has an appreciation for the enveloping deep jewel tones of navy blues, emerald greens, & burgundy purples with pops of metallic accents. I feel contrasting colors & textures in home decorating are key in creating visual interest, combining heavy-duty, luxurious velvet-covered furniture pieces with intricately hand-carved goods or hammered metallic brass pieces, and ornate, one-of-a-kind finds. Raw, live-edge wood planks or natural furniture accents add a sense of character and realness to the home.
Whether I am in the mood to embrace my lighter romantic side or my darker bold side, it has to have the warmth of earthy, natural elements sprinkled in. And absolutely plenty of natural light — think window-encased greenhouse. I have to have at least a vase of something lively floral, be it tulips, carnations, hydrangeas, orchids, or classic roses... and a pot or two of live succulents; as it makes the home feel alive and nurtured. Plus, I like the idea of a symbiotic relationship with its air purification perk as I take care to water its roots. I guess I style my home like I style my body - layer upon layer of pieces that showcase the best in each other, coming together to compose a polished, yet lived-in look.
