LEAFLETS TO ELIAS | 8th Birthday Boy

To My Dear Elias,

Today, you are 8 years old. Your personality has been an adventure - you add so much innovative thinking and experimenting in how you approach life these days.

Mommy has learned so much from you. I know a lot of mommies say this about their babies, but I am so grateful to be your mom. It has been beautiful to see how you have grown and are blossoming into the boy you are becoming. I thank you for how you are attentive to mommy and the love you emanate to me when I need it most.

Your adaptability is such a gift with how you handle so many changes we have experienced and to a variety of environments and personalities. You beautifully engage older ones in conversations that are connected in your own way, it's awe-inspiring that my little guy knows how to naturally strike up a conversation.

Your lego-building skills have taken flight. You make paper planes along with your airplane lego builds. I have no doubt you will be a creator at Lego as you aspire. Flying out on your own jet plane to get there. Mommy would love to hop a flight with you, please.

Or you might jet-set off to New York to play a few piano keys at Juilliard. I'll hop on that flight with you too, please. Keep practicing those beautiful songs that make mommy want to cry as you are self-taught with your keyboard.

You just ran across the living room in a whopping 2.95 seconds with your 7-year old legs. I bet you can do it in 1 with these new and improved 8-year old legs. The race is on. 3-2-1, Go!

You're still a red-stained fingers and crumbs on mommy's pretty furniture Flamin' Hot Cheetos and Spicy Doritos eater. Yes, yes I did raise my eyebrows.

You have learned to make your own scrambled eggs the first time, and a nice and fluffy cheesy omelette the second time. Salmonella yoke drips, but no egg shells in our bites. So I would say - pretty good job my sous-chef.

You are a bit of a mad scientist these days as you are draining all of mommy's batteries trying to get spoons to create electricity.

I will always want to support your creative visions and enthusiasm to experiment with the world around you - but mommy must admit, I've ripped a few hairs out when I don't have any batteries left to replace for the remote to push play for the 10th time of Encanto for your sisters again. I'm feeling surface pressure coming on..

You just effortlessly popped out that loose tooth recently, so I guess you now have room for some sweets to celebrate such a memorable age.

Lemon cupcakes and chocolate frosting with a strawberry on top - coming right up!

Happy Birthday, my baby. I mean Big Boy.

Nah, you will always be my baby. I love you.

With LOVE. Always,

Your Twiggy Mother
