Standards are necessary to set the bar to reach up for, to make progress and improve. The higher the standards, the more quality is produced and more valuable the end results are.
Standards are motivating to have one reach higher, to achieve excellence.
The standards you set for others are the same standards you should be willing and able to give back out to others. You cannot set the standards you yourself do not aim for, perhaps not even able to reach as you have not done so consistently to apply or implement such standards.
Having standards gets a bad rap only because those who do not care to or cannot meet such standards give it the bitter, resentful connotation that it carries.
If such high standards are something to scoff at, one might ask oneself -
Why would you not want and expect the best?
How is this a reflection of what you offer to others, to then expect less than the best in return?
High standards are what will maintain a certain quality that results in procuring the best, enjoying the best, and having the best.
Diamonds, precious metals, and handcrafted goods are not priced high and well without reason. They are valuable because they are of quality to last for the lifetime of being loved.
May you not hold yourself above others in setting high standards, but do so in understanding your own self-worth and value.
With LOVE. Always,
