It is vital that we strive to be self-sufficient individuals.
When we are self-sufficient, we are responsible and accountable for the self.
We are one more soul that is not taking from others to fill our needs, not using others to fill our voids, not setting up expectations for who others should be for us. We live and operate in a way that is not taking, not depleting, not selfish - but able to give as we have filled our well from within, by our own ability.
It can be easy to misunderstand self-sufficiently in this arrogant way of not needing anyone, in a way that doesn't value others for what they contribute to one's life and perhaps even in a condescending tone that others are a mere tool to be used and beckoned forth as needed.
Self-sufficiency, however, is the balance of one taking care of the self and fully capable of it, but yet has the ability to rely and depend upon others as one appreciates the wisdom of companionship, the beauty of the variety of strengths of others adding spice to their life. To be in relationships and forming close bonds because they are adding value to one another's lives in simply being - not needing or seeking connections merely in exchange of beneficial, self-serving gain to be had. The benefit results naturally from affections built in pure intentions.
Being completely comfortable with the silence of being alone, but preferring the selective company of those they genuinely enjoy being in their presence, and they in theirs. It is not burdensome, but natural in an exchange of love, support, and uplifting flow between friends.
May you work towards self-sufficiency that results through the inner work of healing old wounds and shedding patterns and behaviors that stifle our soul's growth by needing others to fill our voids. Self-sufficient to not need others in any way that serves as a distraction from our true need of being whole within ourselves, with or without our companions.
When we are whole and self-sufficient within, we divert our attention from ourselves to those around us, focused on how we can better contribute value to their lives.
We then will know what it is to give unconditionally, to love unconditionally, to exist with others unconditionally. This will set your soul free in living freely for yourself and with others.
With LOVE. Always,
